Professional Story
Growing up my parents and family members called me the social director. I’d say it was a precursor to my current career path.
I enjoy doing things my own way. Self-teaching and taking on new challenges are just a sequence of fun games to me. If you are a small business owner, I’m guessing you can relate.
In college I studied marketing and communications. At that same time I obtained my real estate license and worked for a couple of smaller home industry businesses.
Out of college I bounced between a few corporate jobs. I never enjoyed the set structure and defined 9-5 mentality. Don’t get me wrong, I love to work. I just do it better on my own terms.
Eventually I landed at Newland Communities as a Marketing Manager. Newland is a large master-planned community developer. I really liked that job – so I stayed for 3 years. In that time I met my husband, a best friend, my current business partner, and learned a lot about the home building industry.
Next I worked for a small luxury remodeling company, until the economy changed. Or should I say crashed in 2008.
In the peak of the housing downturn I decided to start my own company. Good time to start a company right?! I saw that small home builders and remodelers had a need for marketing assistance, but they didn’t necessarily want to hire someone full-time.
Front Step Marketing opened its doors for business in 2009. And I landed my first home remodeling client within a couple of weeks. I’m happy to report that my first client is still with me today.
As Front Step Marketing has grown so has our amazing team and clients. I feel blessed I get to work with such talented individuals each and every day.
Personal Story
I’m a small town girl at heart, even though that’s not where I live today. Currently you'll find me on the edge of a large city, with farmland on the other side. It’s the best of both worlds, as I continually strive for a slower pace of life.
I’m an introvert, but you’d probably not guess that upon meeting me. I love meeting new people and hearing their life story. I ask a lot of questions!
Besides a business owner, I also have the title of wife, mom, and pup mom.
My husband, who works in commercial construction, and I have two young active boys. We also have a furry son. The furry one is a 10 year old mini-golden doodle. I’m obsessed with all my boys.
Being a mom is the most rewarding, yet toughest job I’ve had to date.
Our family likes to be outside. All year round we enjoy going north to the lake. There we boat in the summer and enjoy snow activities in the winter.
I want my boys to grow up how I did. Few electronics, and a lot of outside time learning to be creative.
My favorite vacation spot is Hawaii. I have not been there for a few years, but look forward to going again soon. I enjoy the beaches, food and people. The slower pace of life there makes me happy.
I like to read. I always have a book or my kindle near me at night. Reading relaxes and inspires me.
At work I'm extremely motivated, always planning, and making sure I’m one step ahead. At home I’m more laid back and go-with-the-flow. It’s a nice balance.
My motto in life: be kind, everyone is fighting a battle you are not aware of.
